She said that Harry's story is over. We don't know if that means he dies or not but maybe after she has a well deserved break she could write from a different charater point of view? Maybe Harry and Ginny's child or Dumbldore when he is young.

I don't like how she said that the series has come to a pretty "clear end." That, to me, doesn't bode very well for Harry... Do you?

I don't beleive anything Jo said in the interview indicated that Harry dies. For starters, she said "bloodbath" as a joke. Secondly, she obviously doesn't want to give away whether Harry lives or dies, so her anwers were carefully worded to avoid that spoiler. Note that she said that she would never say never to writing about "that world" again not "Harry Potter". If she had said the latter, we would know that he does survive, but because she said "that world" we are left wondering. It certainly doesn't mean that Harry is no more. Similarly Jo could have been "devistated" for the simple reason that the had finished writing the entire series. Remember, the last chapter has been prett much complete for years, so completing the penultimate chapter would have been the true end.

In the interview pattycakes references, Jo said she could UNDERSTAND why authors have killed their characters at the end, not that there's no way anyone else could ever write a sequel. Even if Harry dies, once copyright runs out, there is nothing to stop someone from writing a "what if Harry hadn't died" type story.

Also, she said she won't rule out writing more Harry Potter books, which seems to be just as much evidence that Harry doesn't die. She could have been crying because someone else dies, or because of something happy, even.

Luckily, we don't have too much more time to wait to find out! :)

pattycake,
clearly you've never written a story. Finishing a book is an emotional roller coaster. Try and imagine writing characters, witnessing their lives, for close to 20 years, then all of a sudden you're no longer there, enjoying their adventure. Of course she's saddened by finishing the novel, the novel that changed her life forever, and all of ours. So just because she's human and is saddened by ending the book, which she describes as the longest adult relationship of her life, doesn't mean Harry dies. It just means she's going to miss her characters so much, just like the rest of us.

Don't you think Harry has to be dead given what JK said? She cried after a chapter near the end of the book. What would make her cry so much? The last chapter has to be a summary, an epilogue of sorts about what happens afterwards. She says there will be no way other authors can write a sequel. That has to mean he dies.

I watched the video of this interview and it made me even more excited for Book Seven than I already was. I love how Jo just acts like a regular person, even when everyone is telling her how great she is. When she said that Book Seven would be a "bloodbath" it made me so nervous! I wonder who will live and who will die.

I can't wait for Book Seven! Less than fourteen days to go.
