hilarious!! he's completely mad - actually I think if Dumbledore were a muggle this would be him. He's got the quirkiness and humour that DD shows in the books.

I don't think Gambon's too energetic as DD. I once thought so until I re-read the books. He is actually described as energetic. It's only at the end of the 5th book that Harry notices how old he seems.
Book 3 "Professor DD, though very old, always gave an impression of great energy".

Hahaha! Oh my God, that was hilarious! Michael Gambon is a very funny and talented man, unfortunately he is completely wrong for the role of Dumbledore. Oh well :(

I think Michael Gambon's Dumbledore is too energetic. In the books, Dumblebore is portrayed as a calm, gentle person; in the movies in which Gambon plays, Dumbledore is constantly moving quickly (he's supposed to be an OLD man), he pushes Harry, yells, etc. I'd like to see a return to the calmer version.

I agree, I miss richard harris. he brought a warmth, a wisdom to dumbledore that Gambon seems to lack.

I think Sir Gambon is a great actor and a marvellous person, he's a very funny man, but in Dumbledore's role, is... a little bit(I looking for a soft word) Rude, impetuos. in a manner to say.
I still thinking Mr Harris was a tremendous Albus Dumbledore, more accord whit the books. kindness, and strict, his look, like a wise and powerfull grand father who You love and respect
personally I miss him.

Gambon really made Dumbledore a 3 dimensional character.

Dumbledore was kind-hearted who even joked around,(oh yeah, check the 3rd book, he jokes around. That's why I see no fault in Gambon's first portrayal because the book Dumbledore acted just like the movie one -personality-wise), and when the situation was rough, Dumbledore had a persona that left you feeling safe, but also made you realize he meant business. I'm proud to see this presented in Gambon's portrayal.

And,to outsidessence, why would you feel that way? If Dumbledore admitted to Harry, in book 5, that he cared for Harry and has tried to protect him all these years - then why wouldn't it seem plausible that Dumbledore, in the movie, would grab Harry in shear terror, asking him if he signed his life to a dangerous tournament?

If Dumbledore admitted to caring for Harry's welfare, then he surely would've felt terror inside himself once he found out Harry's name was in the goblet. I see no fault in Gambon's second portrayal because it's something Dumbledore would've done. I also like how Gambon's second portrayal even seemed like the Dumbledore from book 6 (yes, he did).

So, in closing, enough with the complaining. Harris unfortunately left us all. Gambon came along to pick up where Harris left off. I'd rather have Gambon take over for Dumbledore than have someone else, because at least Gambon brings a bit of Dumbledore out of the pages of the book. For that, I am thankful.
And honestly, if it had not been Gambon to play DD, then it would've been someone else who fans would've found problems with also.

I have to agree with Melissa here. Michael Gambon brings a certain amount of "humanity" to the character. He's quirky and interesting, and Michael Gambon is wonderful in this portrayal. However, actually watch this interview from beginning to end and you just cant help but be amazed at the sense of humour of this guy!

1st Dumbledore was too stuffy for me.
Michael makes him a little more light hearted with a touch of "mad scientist"...well I guess I should call it "mad wizard". He has quirks that he isnt afraid to show, not all stifled and oh-so-proper like those who came before him.
Seems way more approachable than Richard Harris.

Too right Josephine, too right.
