I really love him as Dumbledore, although I was a little surprised to hear him say in another interview (with either Rosie O'Donnell or Caroline Rhea) that he hadn't read any of the books to figure out Dumbledore's character, he only read the scripts.
That being said, he is the quintessential Dumbledore. He has the perfect amount of sparkle of fun in the eye, but he is self-controlled and wise like the Dumbledore from the books. Michael Gambon is TOO eccentric and doesn't have nearly the self-control or quiet calm that Harris shows. Plus, I love Harris' voice, that sort of raspy whisper. :)
Oh! that Fate would have left Mr. Harris with us for the rest of the films! I can't imagine what the audience will feel when we have to watch Gambon die as Dumbledore in the 6th movie... will they even feel bad?

I agree With Kira! I think Mr Harris was the only Dumdledore. I miss him... He was just like I always had seen him... Gambon doese´nt act like Dumbledore, he does not even have white berd! When I read the books I will always see Harris as headmaster.

Can't say I miss him as dubledore. Not that he did a bad job. I just think he plays the role like he's harry grandpa or something. In the book he is more interesting, more eccentric, funnier. Harris just plays him old.
I do admit that Gambon does'nt have the warmth Harris had, but he'll do fine in future movies I think.

Ohhh, I really miss Mr Harris as Dumbledore. In my opinion, he was very close to perfect in the role and I remember thinking after seeing that first film that he was one of two characters that were extremely close to those in my imagination. Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid being the second, of course.

Oh... he's gone :'( I miss the old Dumbledore. He didn't yell at Harry AND he had a cool hat.
